WINTER OUTFIT: FROM WINTER TO SPRING

Are you guys ready for spring yet? I've been thinking about my spring wardrobe this past week and right now I'm in the inspiration process, scrolling through pinterest and my favourite sites. I have a S/S16 wish list that's growing fast, but of course I'll whittle it down radically once my mind is made up about where I want my style to grow this spring. Upon reflection, I'm doing fine with bottoms and shoes, but what I need to work on is tops and sweaters. Gots nothing to wear! Okay, that's <strike>probably</strike> obviously an exaggeration, but indulge me for a moment, will you?<br />
<br />
I've built up my winter sweater collection last year and I'm reeeally happy with it. For this spring, there are a couple sweaters I'm eyeing that would complete my spring sweater collection too, so that's an easy solution. The tops and t-shirts though...that's the hard part. I'm forever searching for those interesting but versatile pieces. It seems they are either too basic or too complicated - bold patterns are <i><a href="http://www.hm.com/us/product/37803?article=37803-B#article=37803-A">the thing</a></i> this season. I want something in the middle! Like <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/80783387044533255/">this king of a shirt</a> from Madewell's spring lookbook.<br />
So anyway, I've got my work cut out for me.<br />

Let's talk a little bit about this outfit. I love how one accessory can change a whole look, as the scarf does here. The colours carry a hint of spring and compliment a lot of simple outfits nicely. It's a great recipe for making old and worn-so-many-times pieces fresh again. The outfit's not something I planned to wear, I threw it on and really liked it - don't you love when that happens? WINTER OUTFIT: THE STATEMENT SKIRT

Hi friends! How have you been? The past couple of weeks you can really smell that scent of early spring in the air. All that's missing now is som greenery and fresh new leaves on the trees so we can officially call it. I'm still living in my winter wardrobe, though I'm slowly starting to think about the spring one. I have a feeling it's going to be among the lines of urban cool. I'm kind of into sneakers at the moment! I'm really liking the outfit and it's basically because of this skirt. I kind of got it on a whim in the sales, inspired by<a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/80783387044786780/"> this amazing outfit</a> of Carrie's from wishwishwish. I was looking for a fun piece and I couldn't be happier with it. It´s in the <a href="http://www.katberries.com/2016/01/winter-capsule-wardrobe-extras.html">Extras wardrobe</a> because I don't wear it often...but when I do...it's perfect. At first I was struggling to find a top that would go with it but in the end I found a few that work. Most of my basic tops and even my rose gold sweater do. Maybe next time I try it with a breton shirt? Is that too much? Haha.<br />

I'm hoping to shoot some more outfits next week for you, fingers crossed, as lately it's been hard to manage the light and a photographer. (Hashtag: blogger problems, right?) I have at least 15 outfits that I wore in the past months and that were worth documenting. Wish me luck! And also in the upcoming weeks I'm hoping to share a few insights on planning for my spring wardrobe and update you on how I'm doing. If you'd like to hear about something in particular, I'm open to suggestions!<br />

3x9 AN OUTFIT THAT WON'T GO OUT OF FASHION

This look is something I've been wanting to wear since 2012. Honest! I saw a white lace dress paired with a leather jacket and masculine boots and I was sold. Problem was - I didn't have a white lace dress, a leather jacket, or those combat boots...</div>

But all is well because three (!) years later I have all of those things in my closet and I can finally rock the look. It was still a bit chilly when we took these photos, but I can't wait to wear this outfit sans tights and scarf and with my hair down in waves (those plaits seriously cute it up). The fact that three years after seeing this outfit somewhere on the internet I can still say I love it, means it's here to stay. For the next three years at least, me thinks. </div>

So what is it that makes it so appealing? It's the juxtaposition of a feminine white lace dress that's associated with innocence and purity, and an edgy leather jacket (and army-style boots), associated with a wild lifestyle and anarchy. Two different sides of the scale, yet they fit so well together. And still you can take the dress and create a girly look, or take the jacket and rock on all night.</div>

Having different styles in your wardrobe, whether it's a capsule wardrobe or not, gives you plenty interesting choices when building an outfit. You have three ways to go, in this case: girly/feminine, edgy, or something in between. A guarantee you won't get bored. And it's not just these two styles that allow mixing, you can try it with vintage + modern, alternative + classic and any others too. The juxtaposition will never get old and you can use fashion to express the hell out of your mood. Works for me, for sure!</div>

3x2 TURQUOISE: MY SPRING ACCENT COLOUR

Let me tell you a story of how turquoise became this spring's accent colour. I was looking for some sort of a "pop" to add to my wardrobe. A colour pop. I'd been browsing through online stores - online window shopping of sorts, and looking at handbags, trying to find one the colour of which would be so versatile I could wear it all the time. With a black dress or a white dress, pink shirt or blue trousers. My little colour quest...</div>

It didn't take long for it to come to me: turquoise. That's my colour. We go way back when, turquoise and I. Back when I was 7 and me, my mum and grandma went on holiday to Tunisia. Those bright white walls with turquoise doors and window shutters. A beautiful colour, I thought, but back home it never seemed to fit into my European surroundings. And so I always admired it but never wore it, until I came across this crop top. The last piece in an h&m summer sale perhaps four years ago. I wore it a lot. Loved it for a year. Then put it in a drawer. I haven't stopped loving it, no, but it seems that turquoise and I have a little thing. We go round and round our separate ways and then now and then our paths cross. This is that time.</div>

And since we made good - turquoise and I - I've seen a lot of people wearing it, handbags, backpacks and even shoes. They don't know I predicted this. They don't know it's my colour. Going through my belongings I found a turquoise bracelet and a turquoise ring, and it tells me what I knew all along. That we were meant to be.</div>

Ah, the first post of the new capsule wardrobe. Got to start with a bang, right? I think it's kind of genius how the skirt and the shirt are the same colour. I mean, there's very little difference in their hues - and it's a complete accident! Or a lucky coincidence?</div>

Anyways, this is such a lovely outfit even if I'm singing my own praises a little here. It's just, nice, you know? And that's what I want to talk about today. My winter wardrobe, I found, as cool as it was, started to feel a little too casual about six-seven weeks in. I guess I forgot that I do like to dress up <i>a little</i> sometimes. Live and learn girl, live and learn.</div>

So I'd say the title of this post might just be the motto of this spring wardrobe: <i><b>I want to look nice sometimes.</b></i> I mentioned in the big spring wardrobe reveal that I did indeed include a few dressier items - and this is one of the dressier looks. And I love it. The tulips help, too.</div>

Now before I go, I have to warn you - this faux leather jacket is the star of the season. We've shot 5 outfits as of yet and 4 of them include this jacket. It just makes every outfit look better!
