3x1 I WANT TO LOOK NICE SOMETIMES

Ah, the first post of the new capsule wardrobe. Got to start with a bang, right? I think it's kind of genius how the skirt and the shirt are the same colour. I mean, there's very little difference in their hues - and it's a complete accident! Or a lucky coincidence?
Anyways, this is such a lovely outfit even if I'm singing my own praises a little here. It's just, nice, you know? And that's what I want to talk about today. My winter wardrobe, I found, as cool as it was, started to feel a little too casual about six-seven weeks in. I guess I forgot that I do like to dress up a little sometimes. Live and learn girl, live and learn.
So I'd say the title of this post might just be the motto of this spring wardrobe: I want to look nice sometimes. I mentioned in the big spring wardrobe reveal that I did indeed include a few dressier items - and this is one of the dressier looks. And I love it. The tulips help, too.
Now before I go, I have to warn you - this faux leather jacket is the star of the season. We've shot 5 outfits as of yet and 4 of them include this jacket. It just makes every outfit look better! I don't know what people did before leather jackets. What did you do? Any tips? I can't seem to take mine off!

LOVE the skirt! I wish I could find a light pink skirt that would be that length on me, but I haven't been that lucky yet! I'm too short and my legs are too... round? I have found a shorter light pink skirt though that I'm considering for spring and summer. The color looks absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteI did take your advice from a couple of blog posts ago, about the three piece rule. I was wearing a floral skirt and a white blouse, and it looked nice, but sort of anonymous. So I added a belt at the waist, and I thought it looked a lot more stylish immediately! :)
Oh thank you, I really hope you find one! Or perhaps you could have a longer one hemmed? I can't imagine it would cost a lot (or if you've got a machine it could be a simple diy). I love how this colour works as a blank canvas for other colours so it's quite easy to pair with other things :)
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm glad to hear the three piece rule worked for you! I read about it a few weeks ago and had a complete "oh yeah..." moment - I've been unconsciously following it in a few outfits but it really helped to realise that this is the key :)
(Also floral skirt + white blouse + belt sounds like a lovely outfit).
the skirt and blouse look fabulous together! and I know exactly what you mean about leather jackets. what did we ever do before them - walk around aimlessly and wonder what item would complete our outfits??
ReplyDeleteHaha this made me smile! And it got me thinking - seriously, what did we do? I arrived at a conclusion, too: cardigans. I was definitely a cardigan person, but more for a lack of a great leather jacket rather than a conscious choice ;)
