1x9 A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING

eclectic outfit for a date in town

C&A CHARCOAL CARDIGAN / SIMILAR / SIMILAR
BENCH COAT / VERY SIMILAR
VANS SHOES
NEW YORKER SCARF / SIMILAR
NEW YORKER BAG

A little bit of everything. That's what I'd call this outfit. Casual, cool, rodeo, cabin, urban, cosy - a crazy combination. The cold weather has arrived and so I put on a bunch of long-sleeved things to keep warm. As a result I created this eclectic mix. I kind of like it, I just picked whatever I wanted to wear and put it all together in an outfit without thinking much about coordination. And it kinda worked!

I wore it last Saturday for a little date day in town. We had sushi for lunch and now that I've mentioned it I want to have sushi again. I'd have it all the time if it were up to me!

I had to throw my winter coat to the mix, because it's just so cold. I had a jacket I didn't wear once, so I'm putting this Bench coat in as a substitution. It's the only really warm coat I have in this capsule so it might get a little boring.

On the topic of substitutions, I also swapped my blue polka dot shirt for this checked one. Every time I tried incorporating it into an outfit it looked a bit off, so I'd just put it back in the wardrobe. Both of these shirts are from h&m and I thought they were the same kind of shirt just with a different pattern. Turns out, the checked one is longer and a lot nicer cut. It adds a little colour too, so in it goes!

My number of clothes is still the same, and I actually excluded 3 pairs of shoes from the mix, so I feel like I earned this substitution. And, you know, because I'm still figuring it out :-). I found something didn't work, shopped my {stored} wardrobe and swapped it for something that did. That's okay in my book.

Have you found you included something in your wardrobe that doesn't quite work? Have you swapped it? Are you tempted?

  1. I'm still figuring the whole capsule wardrobe thing out, so I definitely consider substitutions to be okay! So far I've only swapped out a pair of jeans, but I do this Fall was a bit trickier of a time to start this experiment just because of the giant change in temperatures from the beginning to the end, so we'll see how it goes!

I absolutely love this outfit! You look super cozy and the color of that scarf is gorgeous. :)

  2. Thank you! That's true, the change of temperatures is challenging! Although, actually, perhaps not so much in the UK, honestly, sometimes I feel like whatever the season, it's 5 to15°C all year round. It would be completely different if I was at home in Slovakia where you start fall with 24C and finish with -5C, which is probably what you're dealing with.
I'm glad you think substitutions are okay, good to hear there are other girls too trying to figure all this out :-)
