Denim jackets. Back in fashion again, after a long hiatus (I wrote about it a few weeks ago in this post). Can you believe that up until last year I didn't have one? And will I, fast forward a few years, be banging my head against the wall about wearing them back...back now, I guess? I sure hope not. Mostly because banging one's head against the wall really hurts.

I have so many outfits in my head when I just throw a denim jacket on top and walk out all effortless and stylish. But sadly, I don't think it will be this jacket. I love it, I do, but I got it online, second hand and let me say, Topshop jackets do NOT fit true to size. This one right here is marked as UK12, or eur40, which normally is a nice size, a little roomy and very comfortable, just as you'd want your outerwear to be. But this one, ladies and gentlemen, this one is more like a 10 or even an 8.

So while I wore it in these photos, I'm actually looking to resell it and replace it with something more spot on. It also made me realise I'd quite like it to have pockets (the two breast pockets don't count). Pockets always come in handy, especially if you're wearing a dress and there is absolutely no way you can get away with not wearing a purse. I like to get away with not wearing a purse sometimes.

To keep the cost down and not to lose any money, I'm looking second hand again. There's quite a market for jean jackets so I'm positive in that I will find my perfect one. Meanwhile, I'll be admiring this H&M number. It's the right shade of blue, it has pockets, what more could a girl want?

Bottom line is, yes, I started wearing this spring's wardrobe before it was 100% complete, so I was expecting things like this might happen - having to add, replace or lose an item. And it's okay, I'd rather figure it out along the way than not figure it out at all.

Wishing you all a great Monday!

  1. Definitely want to recreate this look once it gets warmer here! :)
I just got a denim jacket! I also wanted one with pockets, and one that I could easily move around in, I HATE when clothes feel restricting... So I got a Vero Moda one! It is so soft and amazing and stretchy and I want to wear it with everything! I guess you'd find it on zalando, I don't know if Vero Moda has stores in the UK?
Oh and sizing is so confusing these days..... I now switch between 3-4 sizes, depending on which store I go to :(

  2. Good luck with your search! Finding the perfect denim jacket is surprisingly difficult and I was really lucky to buy one at J. Crew last year that I love.
Great outfit though, I love the texture of your dress!

    xx Nina

  3. Oh Camilla, that's really the best compliment a girl could hope for! :) Would love to see your recreation if you ever get the chance. (And if you're not camera shy :) )
I know Asos carries Vero Moda and a few other stores do too - I checked out their website after your comment and they sure do have some great denim jackets in stock! Glad you found one that works for you - seems like we have a very similar expectations for what a jean jacket should feel like ;)
I'm going to have to try my luck with eBay this time round as that's really all I can afford, but I did find a listing for a Gap jacket that I'm excited about. Might have to compromise on those pockets though :-/
And don't even tell me about sizing, I basically go from a small to an extra large, depending on the store. Though what gets me even more is inconsistent store sizing - I have to change trouser size depending on cut, rise, and material - I'm three sizes within one store!

  4. Thank you, Nina! I don't have any J.Crew pieces myself but from what I hear their fit and quality is pretty great! Definitely a good denim range, wish we had J.Crew and most importantly, J.Crew Factory, here too! I really wish I could just try on a few different cuts and rinses - then at least I'd know what I'm looking for as now the great jacket is more like a dreamt up image in my mind! I will find it, though...or I'll die trying :-)
    xo Kat

  5. there's that teal again - looking good!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a few words. It always makes my day!
