2x7 THIS IS WHAT FASHION IS FOR

I've had this doggy bag {yup, that's my technical term} for years. I got it in what we call a "Chinese shop" in Slovakia when I was still in high-school. Chinese shop is a store selling cheap, often kitschy low-quality clothing and accessories and owned by Chinese or Asian immigrants. A lot of the clothes and shoes fall apart after a season or so, but sometimes you find something that lasts {I feel like I'm describing Primark here}. Like this doggy bag. A cute upgrade on a basic canvas tote.

I've been on the verge of donating it a few times because I don't wear it that often, but have always decided to keep it for when I'm in a playful mood. The colours of the pattern are quite neutral so it goes with a lot of stuff, but, coincidentally, it infantilises an outfit, which is not what I'm usually looking for. But when snow falls for the first time in forever in Manchester and actually sticks, well, that's definitely time for games.

I paired it with this pink sweater that I've wanted to share here for a while. I got it in winter sales a year ago for dirt cheap and I love the zip detail in the back. Also I really like the powdery pink colour - I think it's a good fit for me. I layered my favourite smart-ish knit top underneath. You can't see much of it but it is black with white polka dot collar and frill sleeves. It was 25 euros and my mum got it for me six or seven years ago in Orsay. I remember thinking how expensive that was, but we both loved it and throughout the years I've worn it so much that it was definitely worth the mini splurge.

I'd quite happily wear this outfit to a casual interview, though I would swap the bag for something a bit smarter. Perhaps the shoes for a black pair too. It's an outfit that makes me feel really good. Which leads me to what I want to tell you today: the doggy bag might not be my most fashionable bag ever, still, I love wearing it. So maybe it won't earn me much street cred, but it makes me happy and, in my eyes, that's what fashion is for. To make yourself feel good :-) Wouldn't you agree?

  2. Really nice outfit! I wish I could pull off pink colours, sadly it looks strange on my skin. Looks really great on you :) And I really like that bag!

  3. Thank you, Camilla! I used to love hot pink before realising it really isn't my colour. I think it's just about finding the right shade of pink, perhaps one day... :-)
